John Chan, MD, FACOG
Dr. Chan graduated from medical school at University of California School of Medicine - Los Angeles. From there he completed his OB/GYN residency and GYN ONC fellowship at the University of California Irvine Medicine Center and MD Anderson in Houston, TX. He is currently Director of Gynecologic Oncology and a specialist in the surgical and medical treatment of ovarian and other complex pelvic cancers at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Chan oversees the Division’s activities and development in patient care, research and education. His research focuses on developing new therapies for gynecologic cancers, including genomic therapy and targeted biologic therapies, as well as investigating the role of tumor-initiating cells in ovarian cancer. He is involved in population-based studies examining treatment and health outcome of ovarian and uterine cancer patients. Dr. Chan has also recently been appointed the principal investigator one of the largest advanced ovarian cancer clinical trials in the world, which is currently under development at the National Cancer Institute.
ABC is excited to have Dr. Chan on board to provide services for the general oral boards. In addition, he is a welcome addition to fill our gap in helping Gynecology Oncology physicians as they prepare for their qualifying and certifying subspecialty boards.
