Faculty - Alexander Berger, MD, FACOG

Dr. Alexander Berger educational journey began at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  Remaining loyal to Chapel Hill, Dr. Berger continued his studies, obtaining his MPH and completing medical school at the same institution. He then pursued his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, followed by a transformative Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) fellowship at UC San Diego Medical Center.
Dr. Berger's journey led him to achieve double board-certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and FPMRS, reflecting his deep expertise in women's healthcare.  His special focus is on improving the quality of life for women dealing with pelvic floor disorders, offering surgical and nonsurgical solutions, including physical therapy, medication, Botox bladder injections, sacral neuromodulation, and posterior tibial nerve stimulation. He is also recognized for his teaching contributions and extensive research work aimed at enhancing surgical techniques and patient outcomes.
Dr. Berger's dedication to mentoring and women's healthcare is evident through his active involvement with organizations such as the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), and the Society of Gynecologic Surgery (SGS). As the Chair of the Fellows' Pelvic Research Network of SGS/AUGS, he leads efforts to improve the care of women dealing with pelvic floor disorders.
