Melisa Holmes, MD, FACOG

Dr. Holmes took a creative route to medicine. She graduated from the University of Georgia with an art degree in drawing and painting even though she always had her sights set on med school.
She completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and then her OB/GYN residency at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is board certified in OB/GYN.
She joined the faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where she practiced general obstetrics and gynecology in an academic practice, and later established a private practice for the University. Although she practiced as a generalist for over a decade, she maintained academic and clinical interest in pediatric and adolescent gynecology (PAG). She held joint appointments in OB/GYN and Pediatrics. She received numerous awards in teaching, she received a national award by ACOG for patient education, was also named among the Best Doctors in America.
In 2003, she co-founded Girlology with a Pediatrician colleague. Girl-ology and now Guy-ology has become a national and international phenomena, educating and empowering youth and their parents. To maintain her clinical skills and patient contact, she works PT at Greenville Health System in the PAG division.
ABC is thrilled to tap into her passion and prowess in education. If she can get the message across with teens, imagine what she can do for you in preparing for your boards!
